There are hundreds of different uses that we can give to an Android smartphone and its camera in particular. One of them has to with turning our mobile phone into a webcam capable of broadcasting via streaming everything that happens in front of the lens in real time. And that’s precisely the purpose of the app IP WebCam, the tool you need to install on your device to set up a very secret surveillance system.

Where can I watch the transmission?

From a web browser or through a multimedia player like VLC, and inserting the corresponding codes to make sure only you can access the transmission, you’ll be able to see everything that happens in front of your phone’s camera in real time, turning out to be ideal to keep on eye on the kids while they sleep or set up a homemade video surveillance system.

Main features

  • Broadcast live via streaming using the Ivideon cloud technology.

  • Upload your recordings straight to Dropbox or send them by email.
  • Configure events to trigger an alarm and start recording.

IP Webcam is an app that allows you to convert your Android device into an internet camera with multiple view options that you can see on any platform using VLC player or an internet browser.

IP Webcam allows you to record videos in Webm, MOV and MPEG4 (only offered for devices with the Android 4.1 operating system or later). The audio transmission, on the other hand, can be as a Wav, Opus or ACC file (the last of these requires Android 4.1 or later).

The movement detection options allow you to leave the phone pointing somewhere and when something moves in front of it, it will start recording. This mode, of course, consumes a lot of your battery, so it’s only a good idea if your device is plugged in.

IP Webcam is a tool that allows you to convert your Android device in to a video surveillance tool. You just have to leave the device connected to the charger (or the computer) and you can keep track of what’s happening anywhere.
